The original damp proof course had failed, and the internal plaster was contaminated with hygroscopic salts that kept the walls damp even in dry weather. Our Solution ------------ A new chemical damp proof course was injected at low level across all affected walls. The contaminated plaster was hacked off to a height of 1.5 metres and replaced with a salt-resistant renovating plaster system, finished with a skim coat. The Result ---------- The walls dried out fully within eight weeks, and the tenant was able to redecorate without any return of damp patches. A twenty-year guarantee was issued for the damp proof course.
